Weekend Box Office Recap

The story of a geek and his money just barely beat out the new films at the box office race this weekend. "The Social Network" made about $400,000 more than newcomer date movie "Life as We Know It" to keep its top spot in Hollywood for another week.

"Secretariat" came in third, obviously not getting as many families as Disney had hoped. Still, I gotta say Dianne Lane is looking mighty MILF-like lately. Did you see her on Charlie Rose the other night? Hubba hubba!

Zack Galafanakis's latest, "Its kind of a funny story" didn't break the top ten. Premiering in only 742 theaters, the new comedy made $2mil in its opening bow. No bad considering it had an $8 mil. budget.

The biggest loser this week was Disney's lame comedy "You Again" falling 56% from its previous week's numbers.

And falling out of the list this week were "Let Me In," "Devil," and "Alpha and Omega 3D."

Here are the numbers according to studio estimates released on Sunday:

1 (1) The Social Network $15,500,000
2 (new) Life as We Know It $14,635,000
3 (new) Secretariat $12,600,000
4 (2) Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole 3D $7,015,000
5 (new) My Soul to Take $6,918,680
6 (4) The Town $6,350,000
7 (3) Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps $4,625,000
8 (5) Easy A  $4,200,000
9 (7) Case 39 $2,630,000
10 (6) You Again $2,474,000
