Weekend Box Office Recap

Looks like crowds were eager to see some "Natzee killin'" this weekend.

Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" easily took the top spot in the box office in its opening bow, making this Quentin's best opening ever. The World War II film made $37.6 million according to studio estimates on Sunday.

"District 9" fell almost 50% from its opening weekend numbers, but still managed to pull in almost $19 million with a two week total to date of $73 million. By comparison, last year's big summer sci-fi blockbuster "Cloverfield" dropped 68% in its second weekend. With District 9, a film that cost $30 millio to shoot, all of this is gravy.
