Weekend Box Office Recap

Not a record breaking weekend at the box office this go-round. Sacha Baron Cohen's latest attempt to duplicate his previous success was the obvious winner for the weekend. Cohen's mockumentary "Brüno" was followed closely by Michael Bay's noisy cacophony of fighting robots with retarded story lines still inexplicably hanging around the theaters waiting to rust over.

Meanwhile, Johnny Depp's film about John Dillinger fell quickly during its second cycle. "Public Enemies" droped 44% and slipped to 4th place, making a puny $14 million.

Here's the top ten for the weekend:

1 (new) Brüno $30,426,240
2 (2) Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs $28,500,000
3 (1) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen $24,000,000
4 (3) Public Enemies $14,111,280
5 (4) The Proposal $10,507,000
6 (5) The Hangover $9,930,000
7 (new) I Love You, Beth Cooper $5,000,000
8 (6) Up $4,656,000
9 (7) My Sister's Keeper $4,180,000
10 (8) The Taking of Pelham 123 $1,600,000
