Have you noticed that the Sci Fi channel has re-branded itself to "SyFy?"
Well at the upfronts for the network back in April, Channel prez Dave Howe explained that using a meaningless amalgam of words might appeal to a less geeky crowd:
“What we love about this is we hopefully get the best of both worlds,” Mr. Howe said. “We’ll get the heritage and the track record of success, and we’ll build off of that to build a broader, more open and accessible and relatable and human-friendly brand.”
They probably spent millions working on this just to appeal to a broader demographic.
I dont understand the logic of this, but then its Hollywood and there really isnt much logic to any of it.
