We mentioned the other day that Shia LaBeouf hinted that work was being done on another Indiana Jones movie.
Now we have news from Empire Magazine that says producer Frank Marshall has all but confirmed that the dead horse, is indeed being beaten:
It's really about the script," says the veteran Indy producer. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!"
What this means is that some of the key people would be interested in trying to wring out a few more dollars from the franchise before calling it quits. It doesnt really mean that someone has started writing a script.
And keep in mind that all of this may just be someone at the studio trying to gauge audience interest in another movie. If they throw the idea out there and hear that people are getting excited about it, then Spielberg and Lucas might get their army of monkees and typwriters to start banging out another cliche, trite, and tired story. If, on the other hand, Spielberg reads Hollywood Dump (highly unlikely, but I can dream) he may get a different opinion.
The thought of writing something fast to get it to the screen quickly makes me even less confident that it would be good.
Stay tuned. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this soon.
