Memorial Day Weekend Box Office Recap
It appears that family audiences dictated the box office draw this weekend as Ben Stiller and his cookie cutter, rubber stamp, same-shtick-as-the-first-one comedy wins out over Christian Bale's reboot of evil robots taking over the world.
"Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" made an estimated $53.5 million in its opening bow, beating out "Terminator Salvation" by almost $10 million.
A few people were duped into watching "Dance Flick" but my guess is that word of mouth will kill that steaming floater of a film in record time.
While I try to recover from my camping trip and re-join the mundane world again, here is the top ten from the long weekend:
1 (new) Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian $53,500,000
2 (new) Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins $43,010,000
3 (2) Star Trek $22,000,000
4 (1) Angels & Demons $21,400,000
5 (new) Dance Flick $11,000,000
6 (3) X-Men Origins: Wolverine $7,800,000
7 (4) Ghosts of Girlfriends Past $3,720,000
8 (5) Obsessed $2,000,000
