Yet Another Reboot: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
There may be some entertainment franchises that would be really cool to see rebooted. Unfortunately at this present time, I can't think of a single one.
And hey look, here's another one!
Variety reported this morning that with today marking the 25th anniversary of the shelled superheros, the time was right to drag the franchise out of storage, dust off its shell and have one more go at separating kids and reluctant parents from their money.
"The original dozen comics created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman are some of the best source material one could hope for," said former Legendary Pictures chief marketing officer Scott Mednick who is producing the new film. Mednick is also exec producer on "Where the Wild Things Are"
Current rights owner Mirage Studios says they are gearing up for a 2011 release.
Is the time right to bring these guys back from hibernation, or should they just tuck themselves back into their overly merchandised shells and remain a part of the memories of our youth?
