Post-Oscar slump? You bet.
Its not too often that a film can drop almost 60% from its opening weekend and still keep the number one spot in the box office. But looking at the films that opened this weekend, I think my old 8mm films of my Grandparents's trip to Italy would probably get a run for the money this go around.
"Madea Goes to Jail" gets the nod for the biggest second weekend drop of any film in the top ten, but thanks to lackluster new releases like "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience" and "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" Madea manages to stay number one at the same time.
I fear that the success of this film means it wont be long before we see Eddie Murphy or Martin Lawrence in another fat suit or dressed as a woman again trying to make a hit movie. God help us all.

Whats the box office value of winning an Oscar for best picture? Well for "Slumdog Millionaire" its about 44%. The film got a huge bump from winning damn-near everything last Sunday and now, 110 days after opening, the movie is in 3rd place and made $12 million. Impressive to say the least.
