Hollywood News: Weekend Box Office Recap
Larger than expected crowds hit the box office this weekend willing to place their money on the new flicks that came out. "He's Just Not That Into You" based on a plot line from the HBO series "Sex and the City" was the number one film in the land raking in $27.4 million.
Last week's number 1 film "Taken" dropped predictably to second place, dropping only 17% and making $20 million in its second week. The animated film Coraline took third place with $16 million.
Peter Sellers he's not.
The career suicide of once-funny Steve Martin managed to pull in $12 million this weekend with the debut of the sequel "The Pink Panther 2" Seriously people, it's not a good movie. And dont just take my word for it. Its currently rated at 13% at Rotten Tomatoes. Stephanie Zacharek from Salon.com calls it "One of the most dreadfully unnecessary movies in recent memory." and Pete Travers from Rolling Stone summed it up simply: "Wasn't it bad enough the first time?" How much more convincing do you need?
