A while back we mentioned that nepotism was alive and well in Hollywood, when we learned that The Karate Kid was getting yet another reboot as a "vehicle" for Will Smith's kid Jaden.
And now to further make the casting for this flick even more bizarre, comes word from Variety that Jackie Chan is in final negotiations to be in the film. While Jackie is not playing the role of Mr. Miagi exactly, he's the Karate master mentor to young Smith's character:
Set in an exotic Asian locale, the new film will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan).
The film is being lensed by "Pink Panther 2" director Harald Zwart. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in China some time this Summer from a script penned by a guy named Chris Murphy - who has no other credits to his name, according to IMDB.
If you ask me, it sounds like its going to be terrible. But I'd love to hear what you think.
