Annoying 13 Year Old Female Drummer

Boing Boing called my attention to this video of a 13 year old girl playing the drums for Rush's "YYZ" The name of the song comes from the airport code for Toronto Pearson International Airport, which is the bands home town. And for drummers, its a hell of a way to show off your mad skills on the skins.

I've seen a lot of people do versions of this song, including one overly fanatical follower of the 80s rock band who did a very accurate CGI version of drummer Neal Peart playing the tune.

The song's been one of my favorites since I first heard it many moons ago. So I was naturally interested to see what a 13 year old girl could do to keep up with the massive drumming.

And to her credit, she not only keeps up, but finds time to add stick twirling and hotdog moves while she's playing. Initially I was impressed by this, but because she does it so often, I just got annoyed.

You might have a different opinion. Let me know what you think.

Oh and if you want to see Neil doing it for real in concert, here he is:
