Hollywood News: Weekend Box Office Recap

With no other films opening this weekend, the numbers were definitely big for the latest James Bond flick.

Daniel Craig's second outing as the famed British secret agent in "Quantum of Solace" cleared $70.4 million, averaging over $20,000 per screen across the US, and breaking the record for the largest Bond film opening in franchise history.

Sony and MGM's golden boy has already made back its $200 million dollar budget with box office sales in the UK and by the end of next week, should have a global total of about $400 million.

Meanwhile, "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" dropped 42% from its opening weekend to take the #2 spot in the box office race.
