Three months later, we discovered that the rumor was not true and was a rumor started by a has-been Variety columnist desperate to get some pageviews for her online articles.
And yet, despite our best efforts, this rumor still permeates the porous membrane of the internets. The latest to keep the rumor afloat appears to be the UK's Daily Telegraph.
So we will once-again set the record straight:
Tarantino is NOT doing a remake of Faster Pussycat and Britney is NOT being cast in the film that is not being made.
This news has been confirmed by Access Hollywood from reps for both spears and Tarantino:
A rep for Spears told Access Hollywood, ''Though she definitely intends to explore acting roles down the road, right now she’s concentrating on recording her next album.'' And a source close to Tarantino is quoted as saying, ''There is no truth to this.''
MTV has posted a recent linkbait saying the same thing:
when MTV News reporter Larry Carroll asked the director about the remake at Sundance, he responded, “That’s complete bullsh–.”
Now, while I am all for watching Hollywood try to make money butchering a mostly obscure train wreck of a movie from the 60's, Especially when the remake will contain the undisputed queen of train wrecks, I am tired of having to tell excited co-workers and friends that they are willful dupes propegating falsehoods.
So pretty please, with sugar on top, can we stop trying to will this into happening? Thanks.
