And just like that, the continuing adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte managed to convince nostalgic, lovesick, 30 something single women everywhere, to go with their gal pals and see as "Sex and the City," which brought in over $55 million to the box office this weekend.
Meanwhile, Indiana Jones faced a 54% drop from its opening weekend to come in second place.
And in predicting the box office take for the new film "The Strangers" on Friday, I said, "My guess is that it will clear perhaps 20 million and I doubt a penny more than that." OK, I was a little off, but not by much. "Strangers" pulled in $20,707,249. for a third place finish. Not bad for a go-nowhere rubber stamp formula slasher film.
And despite being at the box office for over a month now, "Iron Man" still managed to bring in $14 million to top its total gross to over $276 mil.
