First Look: Hunter Thompson Doc

"America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable. "

-Hunter S. Thompson

Director Alex Gibney "Taxi to the Dark Side" and "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" is releasing a new documentary on the life and work of Hunter S. Thompson aptly titled, "Gonzo: the Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson."

Narrated by Johnny Depp, with interviews of several of Thompson's closest friends and enemies, the trailer alone has hooked me into wanting to see this documentary.

I am a big HST fan and have loved the way he could combine his mad scientist mentality with such precise and eloquent writing to produce literary works the world had never dreamed of before. Its sad that "Mr. Duke" has left us, but this documentary works to remind audiences of just how important he was to our ever-evolving society and how dearly missed his is.

The film will be released on July 4th. (probably in only a handful of theaters)
