A guy named "Frosty" from Collider.com managed to weasel his way into a press conference with Adam McKay, director of "Foot Fist Way" and managed to land a tidbit of interesting news for Ron Burgundy fans:
Adam McKay: I'm looking to do another movie, I might do this other movie called Channel 3 Billion which is kind of this science fiction/Brazil type comedy. Then after that, Will and I are like let's do Anchorman 2…so you're talking like 2 years maybe we'll do it. But we're going to do it, for sure.
Collider: That's like 100%?
Adam McKay: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're dying to do it. Unless we can't get the cast together, which is always kind of a tricky thing. But, I think, with that cast we're all friends, so yeah, we want to do it.
OK, in the universe of Hollywood, two years is an eternity and without a script, or studio backing, its just the machination of a guy that would like to keep making money off of Tinseltown.
Essentially the last three or four Will Ferrell flicks have all pretty much been the same character - which were all just variations on the Ron Burgundy theme anyway - and especially considering that "Semi Pro" was so abysmally bad, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Ferrell would be interested in falling back to something that was actually kinda funny.
But until we hear about a greenlight from a studio, or at least a first draft penned, I'd advise on holding your breath for this one.
If we find out anything, we'll post it here.
