Hollywood News: Oscar Weekend Box Office Recap

"Vantage Point" won the weekend for Sony Pictures and brought in $24 million at the box office.

Meanwhile "Witless Protection" and "Charlie Bartlet", the other two films that were released this weekend failed to make it into the top 10. More people wanted to see hip hop dancers than watch Larry the Cable Guy bumble around on screen with Jessica Simpson. Sad.

"Be Kind Rewind" was only released in a little over 800 theaters, so it was expected to be a slow open, hoping that word of mouth will help it along as it gets released onto more screens next week.

Here's the tale of the tape from this weekend.

1 (new) Vantage Point $24,000,000
2 (1) Jumper $12,650,000
3 (2) The Spiderwick Chronicles $12,600,000
4 (3) Step Up 2 the Streets $9,787,000
5 (4) Fool's Gold $6,270,000
6 (5) Definitely, Maybe $5,183,700
7 (new) Be Kind Rewind $4,100,000
8 (7) Juno $4,100,000
9 (6) Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins $3,989,490
10 (12) There Will Be Blood $2,561,105

Next week will have Will Ferrell wearing nut-hugger basketball shorts in "Semi Pro" and Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson being smoking hot in period clothing in "The Other Boleyn Girl."

As always, stay tuned.
