John Singleton to Direct an "A-Team" Movie?

OK, maybe times are tough for Director John Singleton. Its been two years since he's had his name on anything, and maybe those residual checks "Boyz n the Hood" arent as big as I had imagined, but come on, John... the A Team?

Cinematical has confirmed through their sources that Singleton will be directing the remake:

The new "A-Team" will be updated from the Vietnam era and reflect contemporary issues and politics. Tone of the film will be less cartoony and more serious, in the vein of "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon." But the van stays, right? The black van with the red stripe has to stay?

Do we really need yet another film version of a bad television show from the 80's? How far will Hollywood go in exploiting the "everything that we enjoyed when we were kids is being turned into a movie" genre? Eventually we are going to reach a point of critical mass and the law of diminishing returns will kick in, forcing Hollywood to go searching for some other angle to wrap a movie around. But I guess we aren't at that point yet.

And as Cinematical pointed out. Just who the hell are you going to cast for the Mr. T character?
