Sequel to "Dances With Wolves" in the works

Movieweb (via Variety) is reporting that a sequel to "Dances With Wolves" is in pre-production right now with Simon Wincer in the director's chair:
The plot picks up eleven years after Wolves left off. The Comanche tribe is in
steady decline, and the threat of white settlers looms on the horizon. The Holy
Road refers to the transcontinental railroad. The Indian population saw it as a
symbol of evil.

Wincer's credits include such epics as "Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles" and the Western miniseries "Into the West." Not sure how he'll cover this one, or if it will be any good, but I am having a hard time seeing this as anything other than a story that is using Dances with Wolves as name recognition and nothing more. I mean are they going to bring back Lt. Dunbar? And if they dont include Graham Greene in the casting, I'm not interested.

Stay tuned.
