Spain’s King Phillip II (Jordi Molla) wants to be a control freak and make England do what he wants. So he states that God is mad with England. Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) is trying to keep her country together and not force anyone to be under any thinking but their own. She will not stand for someone telling her what she needs to do and especially not by a whinny King from Spain. Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

Yes it’s a sequel to Elizabeth and of course I have not seen that one. I am a bad, bad person but I just had no interest in seeing it until after I saw this one. Ha. Plus I have fallen in love with Cate Blanchett since then. I love her. She is the sole reason I even wanted to see this movie. I think her acting was outstanding. I think she did a great job being the powerful woman yet again.

The movie itself was good but not something I’d want to see again. It was good acting by most. The problem would be I think it was not as dramatic as it could have been in some areas. I think that Blanchett put her all, as she seemingly always does, into this movie so I cannot fault her. I think that there were certain things that could have been played up more and made the movie more suspenseful and exciting and less bland. The assassination attempt should have been built up more. I mean it seems to me by the trailer that it was an important part of the movie but it did not really work out that way as the movie panned out.

The costumes were a visual of grandeur. Blanchett’s acting made Elizabeth a domineering presence but also her dress commanded her to be looked at. There was also great shots of the castle that made it every bit as wowing as a castle should be.

Nothing is a cool as having a woman/man (could not tell) sit in front of me and talked loud enough to be heard and then clap. Yes he/she clapped during the most retarded times and not only did she/he clap but he/she clapped for longer than necessary. People are so stupid when they think they are not bothering anyone else with their very stupid antics. I wanted to kick her/him in the head but I was kind enough to allow him/her to be stupid without me adding to the stupidity.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age was worth seeing once. I could own it but I’m not going to rush out and get it even though I think Blanchett is very attractive in the knight armor. Wow. I’d so bow and follow her lead should she ever become Queen.
