Sydney White is an updated version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

It was really girly. It was a creative update because I wondered how things would pan out. How will the mirror be updated? How will the poison apple be updated? How will they show the seven dwarfs? I really do love how they introduced them because I was having fun pointing out who I thought was Sleepy, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Doc, Bashful and Sneezy.

Amanda Bynes is awesome. She is quirky, silly, funny and even pretty. She is the MAIN reason this movie was enjoyable to watch. If it was anyone else playing Sydney I think I would have been bored. She has the facial expressions that just make her interesting and far less boring than most young actresses. She is a tomboy type and I’ve always had a fondness for those. Ha. I was disappointed in the less than par character development. The “Prince” and the “Witch” were both voids. The Seven Dwarfs were developed well but they could have had more funky charm to be more likeable.

The story was simple. There was not a whole lot of depth to it. It was almost like another ‘teen’ movie excluding the similarities to Snow White. Don’t expect much is what I’m stating.

Sydney White is just a throw away movie. It’s not a movie that is to be taken seriously as in expect it to follow reality. I mean it is based off of a fairy tale. It’s simple and if you like the idea and like Amanda Bynes you’ll enjoy the movie. I liked it. I don’t think it’s as good as the fairy tale but it’s alright.
