Naughty Call Letters for Hawaiian TV Station

According to Erika Engle of the Honoulu Star Bulletin, the call letters KUNT have been assigned to a new low-power digital television station in Wailuku, Maui.

The same owner of the TV station also picked up KWTF from a station in Arizona.

Kevin Bae, vice president of KM Communications Inc., who requested and received KUNT and KWTF. offered a sincere appology for the incident. It is "extremely embarrassing for me and my company and we will file to change those call letters immediately."

According to the FCC's Callsign query website, both call letters dont exist in their database, so perhaps they are either too new to be in the database or have already been changed.

I can just imagine the Parents Television Council jumping all over this one.

I've been to Wailuku, Maui. If you blink you would miss it. According to their own website, Wailuku is a town that's still trying to decide what it wants to be. Perhaps I need to go there to do some further investigation on the matter. Anyone willing to donate a plane ticket to Hawaii?
