IESB is reporting that Kevin McKidd, who played Lucius Vorenus in HBO's Rome might be the one to play the comic book superhero Thor in the new film directed by "Stardust" director Matthew Vaughn.
Marvel Studios is trying to fast-track the film to both beat the looming writer's guild strike and to cash in on the comic-book adaptation craze that Hollywood has had a serious boner for lately.
If the rumor is true, McKidd will follow in the footsteps of his Rome co-star Ray Stevenson, who we mentioned recently was announced to be the new Punisher in yet another comic-book adaptation.
There is a bit of a conflict here as chud.com (Cinematic Happenings Under Development) skeptically says they have a source that tells them Marvel is pursuing the idea of wrestler Triple H as the lead character for the film. Physically, Triple-H looks the part, but can his acting beat McKidd? I seriously doubt it.
Variety is reporting that principal photography should start sometime this winter.
