CNN said yesterday that it would stop using the Reuters news service as a way for the network to reduce costs and invest in its own news gathering operations:
The global television news network owned by the world's largest media company, Time Warner Inc, said in an internal memo that it wanted to reduce reliance on agency material while achieving better control of its growth. So CNN is going to go it alone. I wonder how this will affect their alleged unbiased persona. Of course, as long as there is a chief editor picking which stories to run or not run, no news source is truly unbiased.
"This is all about us, not Reuters. This is about content ownership," CNN spokesman Nigel Pritchard said.
"Everything is changing and content ownership is king."
Let's keep a close eye on what happens next for CNN.
