Jason Bourne physically out pounds people and mentally outsmarts who he use to work to figure out how it all started…just like the other two except this time he’s closer to the truth. The Bourne Ultimatum.
I loved the first one. I thought the second one was too shaky and I ok like this one.
Why? I thought the first half of the movie was full of stupid. I did not like the chase scene that much because I think it was too long and it could have been cut in half. I also did not like how the camera still shook though it was not near as much as it happened during the second one. I also disliked the camera vantage point of behind the shoulder of the second person in a conversation. I don’t get why that’s so neat. I think it was alright for the first few seconds but not the whole conversation. I disliked the flashbacks. I found them pointless. They served no point in moving the story along. They just were an annoying interruption to the flow. When the second half came around and what was revealed from the flashbacks it wasn’t all that interesting. It made the interruptions pointless.
I find it funny that critics love this movie hailing it as the best thriller this year. Then I think that this year really hasn’t had that many thrillers that were good. Then I think what the hell are they comparing this too? So stating that it’s the best thriller this year really isn’t saying much. Plus if what they saw was crap then really they don’t have much to compare it to. I think critics fail to remember what a good thriller is. It’s like a thirsty person not knowing how nasty the water is they don’t care they just want to drink it and go OMG this is the best water ever…when it’s not.
That is not to say that The Bourne Ultimatum is a horrible movie because I did give it a B. It’s just that I don’t think it deserves all the praise it is getting. I personally think that the trailers are poorly done and that someone needs to do them that isn’t going to reveal the entire freakin’ movie. We don’t need to know that Julia Stiles is in the movie. Those who are goo-goo ga-ga over the idea will know but those who just want to see the movie won’t and will be a little shocked to see her. I just think the trailers steal from the greatness of the movie. I see trailers and I have a check list form in my head of all the scenes and then when I see the movie I’m going “check” when a scene goes by that was in the trailer. I kid you not I’ve seen the end in trailers and I’ve figured out what happens because of that. It’s annoying.
The good about The Bourne Ultimatum is that the second half is awesome. I love the car chase scene because it’s cool and it’s different than what has been shown before. It’s also cool how Bourne looks at the guy in the other car at the end of the scene. It says a lot. I like his interaction with Landy. I think that is one of the best parts of the movie because it’s so smooth. I really, really, really like the ending. It makes the entire movie and it’s a great shot.
Another great thing about this movie is that everywhere the movie went those were the actual places. They went to every location live because sets would look too fake. I think that was great because then I got to see places I most likely wouldn’t see other wise so the cinematography was fantastic.
Matt Damon is good and entertaining. Joan Allen is beautiful and entertaining. Julia Stiles is hotter than I remember her. Wow hot. It’s one of those how could I miss how hot you are things.
I don’t own any of the Bourne movies and I don’t plan on starting with this one. If you liked the other two Bourne movies you’ll most likely like this one. If you disliked the second one because of the shaking you’ll be glad to know there is less shaking here but there is still shaking. So sit further back so you will be able to bare most of it.
Was it an ultimatum? Well if you saw any of the interviews with Damon you’d see how he states it’s an ambiguous ending. But it was, as a whole, an ultimatum and Bourne did entertain. So the Bourne Ultimatum may or may not be a final chapter but it was entertaining and well worth the green to see.
