The Mayor of Television got a chance to sit in on a screening with the cast and executives of the show and watch the first episode that will air in the fall.
Apparently, they've had to go back to the drawing board a few times in order to make the show work. And by "work" I mean at least amuse the executives enough to pass this on to the American public:
Earlier today, ABC Entertainment president Stephen McPherson announced, “We’re doing lot of work” on retooling the show. “We recast one of leads,” he said. “The pilot will not be the pilot. We felt it jumps way too far in the development of the characters and into the frying pan. They tried to do way too much with that. It’ll end up being episode 5, episode 6 in the run. … We have to develop the characters and the dynamics so that we’re not diving into relationships you might not understand.” Oh, yeah, right – the relationships in “Cavemen” are so complex that maybe an Australopithecus may not quite get them.Gee, who would have thought that a television series based on a 30 second commercial would take so much effort to actually produce?
Seriously, do you really think this show is going to last its full run? I don't even think Vegas would cover those odds.
