Weekend Box Office Recap

This weekend the third Pirates flick continued to pillage the third animated Ogre flick, which still did better than the third Spiderman flick. That is, until next week when the third "Ocean's" flick is released.

You think Hollywood's desperate for marketable ideas?

Coming in second this week was the new contrived romantic comedy "Knocked Up," staring that guy from "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and that slut from "Grey's Anatomy." This farcical formula flick managed to hook the number two spot away from Shrek the Third.

And the new "Kevin Costner as a bad guy" film "Mr. Brooks" came in 4th place, which bumped Spidey to 5th.

Here is the top ten for this weekend:

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - $43,188,000
  2. Knocked Up - $29,284,000
  3. Shrek the Third - $26,704,000
  4. Mr. Brooks - $10,020,000
