Carter sits speechless as Sophia, the woman he thought he really loved, breaks up with him. In a need to get away he tells his mom he’ll go and stay and take care of grandma. He believed he needed the break. Then he ends up meeting a mother and a daughter---both of whom take him for an emotional spin.

In the Land of Women is a great name for this movie because Adam Brody is mainly the only man in this movie while surrounded by women. He escapes from his life in L.A. to live with his grandmother where there are mainly only women in which he speaks with.

Jonathan Kasdan mainly acted before this movie so this would be his first shot at this directing and writing and I have to say that he did a wonderful job. I liked the script and I like how he directed because I think he got something great out of Meg Ryan. I say that because I do not normally like her on screen or off of screen and I was amazed at how much I really liked her in this film. I mean Kasdan disserves mucho credit for that but so does Ryan…well done Ryan…well done indeed.

This is not like any other movie I’ve ever seen about relationships. It takes a different spin on it and it was more of a need to find oneself through the help of other attractive hot females. Brody did a great job with his character and it was different than what I’ve seen from him. Not a huge difference but enough of a difference that I wasn’t thinking of him as Seth from the ex-TV show The O.C..

I like how the movie was put together without a plot that was solved. It was more, as I stated, a finding of one self. There was no relationship that came out of it. I say that so no one goes to the film expecting something like that. That would suck. You think there would be and then there isn’t. I’m not spoiling it at all I’m just making sure you don’t see it under such a pretense.

The grandmother in the film is a riot. Brody’s interactions with her are also funny. She is the comedy release in this drama and Olympia Dukakis did a fantastic job of pulling out the funny.

I’m thinking that I might just own this movie. I really like Adam Brody. He’s one of my favorite actors. I like the way the film was written and so that is also playing into why I’d want to buy it and why it would be a good idea for me to have it since I’m all about the writing. Duh. I wouldn’t mind being In the Land of Women and finding one but my life is not a movie it’s more along the lines of a story that never starts. But enough about me let me finish up about the movie: I enjoyed it. Will you enjoy it? Hell if I know. Ha.
