Its the Ann Coulter Bitch-slap Bandwagon! Climb Aboard!

So Ann Coulter steps in it good and "poof", she's back in the spotlight. Funny how that works.

By now you have no doubt heard Ms Coulter's comments about John Edwards on Friday:
"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word `faggot,' so I -- so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."
See, she is kind of making a little joke about Isiah Washington calling T.R. Night a faggot on the set of Grey's Anatomy a little while ago.

So now everyone is seeing this as a wonderful opportunity to jump on the bandwagon.

Per the NYTimes Blog, by mid-afternoon yesterday, the three GOP candidates also had a few comments about Coulter:
Of the major Republican candidates, only Mr. McCain did not attend, but he denounced her remarks on Saturday morning. “The comments were wildly inappropriate,” said his spokesman, Brian Jones.

And what does Ann have to say about this?

Ms. Coulter, asked for a reaction to the Republican criticism, said in an e-mail message: “C’mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.”

The reason Ann Coulter's comments deserve so much comment is that they represent the views of the far-right. The applause she got for her homophobic comments as well as previous racist and Christian supremacist comments show that her racism, homophobia, and Christian supremacy are core values of the GOP base.
